I currently use a digitech RP unit whenever I play guitar. Whether I’m practicing at home, recording or playing live it makes my life easy.
If you’re wanting to practice the RP series has drum beats to help you keep in time, as well as an easy to use interface that helps you adjust the many features and dial in the tone you want. It’s much more fun when you sound like the song your learning. Choose from over 70 different stompboxes, amps, effects and cabinets on the RP-150 (89 on the RP-250 and 350) so you can really get the sound you’re after.
Sounds
There are an almost infinite amount of sounds available from the Digitech RP series pedals. With over 70 different stompboxes, amps, effects and cabinets on the RP-150 (89 on the RP-250 and 350) each with many customisable parameters you can play until you have the sound you’re looking for.
Making sounds is incredibly simple. There are 100 presets in the pedal. 50 factory tones and slots for 50 of your own. The screen on the unit shows what you’re modifying which makes life easy, or just connect it to your computer using USB, load up Digitech’s X-Edit software and edit the sounds that way. You can also log on to Digitech’s website and download other user created sounds.
Recording
If you’re looking to record your ideas and start to write some songs then the Digitech RP series will make your life easy. Simply connect it to your computer using a USB lead, load up a recording program (Cubase LE comes with the RP-350, or else simply download the free program Audacity) and you’re ready to go. Record a clean signal or add some effects using the pedal and you’ll have a great sounding demo in no time!
Live
If you play live you can use the Digitech RP series to give you a huge amount of sounds without taking a massive amount of pedals. You can even plug straight into the PA and use a foldback as your amp!
By using Digitech’s X-Edit software you can save the patch you want to use for each song, then just dump them to the pedal in the order you’re playing. Just hit the switch at the end of the song to go to the next sound so you never have to bend down and sort through any parameters.
Whether you play rock, jazz, blues to full blown metal, the RP series has the tones for you. Music is the key to happiness, play to live, live to play. The RP is the tool to help you find your inner rock star.
With prices starting from $179 there’s a pedal to suit any budget.
